TeardownOnce the forks are removed from the tree, drain the oil be removing the drain screw on the bottom and the cover on the top. Slip off the dust covers and clean 'em up a little bit. Next, the wire retaining ring for the seal pops out pretty easy. Take an impact, or preferred, and air wrench to the hex bolt in the bottom of the fork. Give it a zip and it shuold come out without too much problem. Then, slide the fork out of the tube. The seal can then be replaced and springs checked. Assembly is the same. You will need load on the fork to be able to re-tighten the hex bolt in the bottom, as it will try to turn the damper in the bottom of the tube. Load will hold the damper tight enough to be able to tighten the hex bolt sufficiently. Shocks... I can't find new ones anywhere... Taking apart and putting together the spring assembly takes two people, one to compress the spring and one to either remove or insert the half moon pieces that hold the assembly together. Not much else to do on them. Things to Know...Problems I've Had in the Past |
