TeardownAs the bike comes apart, remove each of the electrical components, remembering (actually, don't try to remember, write it down or take pictures) where everything hooks up, what color wire and which way that part is mounted. I actually tagged every wire on the main wiring harness as to where it connected with a piece of paper and scotch tape. Here is a wiring diagrams that I used. (appx 500k to download, well worth it!) It actually make it pretty easy to understand how everything functions if you take the time to go through it. It gives you the wire colors, where they go from and too, and what connections they pass through. If there is interest, I can write a document on how everything functions on this bike. Drop me an email with specific questions, and I'll see if I can help you out. Things to Know...Problems I've Had in the PastHad the ignition key switch crap out on me. Pretty easy to pull apart and clean. Only tough part was getting to the two bolts that hold it in. Slip it apart (and remember which way it goes together) and clean the contacts. Put it together, and you should be set. The other headache I've had is the starter switch. Didn't work when i got the bike. I pulled it apart, cleaned it, patched the case back together, and it worked fine for me. I just replaced the right control group altogether, so i shold be havnig any more problems for a while. I've heard of others with this problem, but it's not a big deal. |
