Solo Pictures

Here is a picture of me in the jet just after getting back from finishing my first solo flight in the mighty T-37 "Tweet." The flight was pretty short, only 2 touch and go's and one full stop landing, but I had to break out of the pattern (get out of the way of other traffic) twice. My classmates met me at the jet to foil my plans of making it back into the flight room before getting dunked in the tub. See, if I made it back into the flight room, before getting dunked, they'd all owe me a case of beer. They made sure that I got dunked before getting to the flight room, but I tried to get away anyway.

Here's one of the guys, I think it's Tobias, making sure I don't get any wise ideas, I had a couple, but they didn't let me get away. Then came the wrestling match all the way to the tub. They did me the favor or pulling off my jacket and boots before getting tossed, but they still left me no way to escape. I made 'em work a bit to get me to the tub though.

Here they are getting me from the jet to the airplane. I wasn't the most cooperative student, cold water didn't sound like a lot of fun to me that day, but they weren't about to let me get away without getting dunked.

Here they all are "helping" me to the tub, boy, this was lots of fun... I did my best to avoid it, but here I go.

Oh, and did I forget to mention it was about 8 degree's out this day, and yes, that is ice in the tub! They had to break it so that they could throw me in and not have me bounce off the top. Ah well, it was all worth it and a lot of fun. Now onto aerobatics, instruments, navigation, and formation flying, lot's of fun!

Oh, and here's a picture of the mighty tweet, otherwise known as the 7000lb dog whistle, because of how loud the whine from the engines is. It's a lot of fun to fly even though the oldest ones we fly are over 45 years old, and the newest aren't any less that 35 years old. It has the highest G onset rate of any USAF aircraft, making it a lot of fun for aerobatics.
